If you're thinking about biking in the Indian Himalaya and want some more information, send me an email at: info@pocketsprocket.com.

I cycled from June-November 2003. Without planning anything too much, I got to Manali and rode the routes in this order:

Spiti, Lahaul & Kinnaur (July 2003)
Manali-Leh (August 2003)
Leh-Khardung La (mid-September 2003)
Leh-Kargil (mid-September 2003)
Kargil-Padum-Darcha (late September 2003)
Manali-Dharamsala (October 2003)

I then went south and rode from Bombay to Goa although that's a whole different website (which I haven't made yet). There's a beautiful 600km coastal road that has hardly any traffic. Palm trees, deserted beaches and sunset views over the Arabian Sea... Two friends bought Indian Hero bicycles in Delhi, bungeed their belongings on the back and joined me. It took us 2 weeks, but we were taking it very easy - stopping for the day at breakfast, that kind of thing. Which is only humane if you're cycling a Hero.

Any problems with the website, please let me know.
